Music is our Life!
Established in the 1950s by English violinist, Lawrie Thisleton, The Liverpool Academy of Music has an enviable reputation as one of the best in Australia – a place where teachers never want to leave and students reach their full musical potential. In 1983 renowned Australian guitarist Steve Flack bought the school and built it into one of the largest music schools in Australia.
You’ll Learn a Variety of Music Styles
Gone are the days of endless scales practice and learning old fashioned tunes before you’re allowed to do something interesting. We believe that when you learn a variety of music styles – your understanding and appreciation of music takes a quantum leap. And so does your playing ability. If the student shows a passion and flair for a particular style of music – then we’ll help them to explore and play that style well.
You’ll Learn with a Structured Music Program
Over the years we’ve seen all the different music teaching methods and tried out many of them. After teaching thousands of students for over 50 years, we know what works best. We have an innovative, structured syllabus that has proven to achieve the best results. For those students who are keen for more – we prepare for grading with AMEB and Trinity College, London.
You’ll be Taught by The Finest Teachers
Most of our teachers have been with us for more than 10 years. They love what they do and each is an accomplished musician in their own right, as well as experienced teachers.
Since the environment of the school is one of quality and creativity, we attract many music teachers who want to be a part of our school and so we continue to add new talent to our already strong team.
We teach in a one-on-one style, using innovative methods, as we believe and see proof that this achieves the best results.
You Will Have Access to the Academy’s Resources
All students have access to our library of sheet music and instructional learning CDs to help with practice outside of lessons.
We also provide instruments for those who don’t have their own.
Lessons are in half hour slots – and very competitively priced. Our aim is to make the joy of making music accessible to everyone, not the just wealthy.
